What Mr. Warmuth Loves About Brighton
Mr. Warmuth enjoys introducing students to music in a way that sparks a lifelong appreciation for playing and listening. He values the opportunity to guide students as they begin their musical journey and discover the joy that music can bring.
In the Classroom
Mr. Warmuth teaches Band for grades 5–8, Choir for grades 5–8, and General Music for students in grades K–8. His instruction emphasizes learning music through sound first, helping students develop strong listening skills before focusing on notation. He also incorporates music history, theory, and connections to other subjects so students gain a deeper understanding of music beyond performance.
His Approach
Mr. Warmuth believes in “sound before sight” and comprehensive musicianship through performance. He hopes students leave his classes not only able to play music, but with a meaningful understanding of how music works and how it connects to the world around them.
Fun Fact
Mr. Warmuth builds his own xylophones and has created over a dozen instruments that are used in the classroom.
